Should I choose 5-inch or 6-inch gutters for my house?
It depends on how much roof drains into each run. Austin's storm cells can drop a lot of water fast, and a large or steep roof section concentrates all of it into whichever gutter sits below. Six-inch K-style moves substantially more water than five-inch and is often the right call on bigger roof planes; smaller rooflines do fine with five. We size each run from your actual roof geometry, not a default.
Are gutter guards worth the money in Austin?
For homes under mature trees, usually yes. Between cedar pollen, oak catkins, and pecan debris, an unguarded Austin gutter can clog several times a year, and every clog is an overflow waiting for the next storm.
